Out With the Old… In With the New 101 in 1001 List

All the details on my new 101 in 1001 list.

101 in 1001 list

Technically, I am nearing the end of the 1001 days of my current 101 in 1001 list. The end date is a little under two months away. And yet, here I am, starting out with a completely new list even though my current list is far from “achieved”.

Here’s the truth – my current list does not really inspire me any more. My life hasn’t changed much in the last 2.5 years, but I am not the same person I was when I created that list. My world view has expanded and a lot of things on that list don’t really make much sense to me today.

So instead of ruing over the fact that this current list is so far from complete, I am choosing to move on and honor the person I am today and the things that bring me joy today. For all I know, this list may not make much sense to me maybe 2 years from now, and that’s okay, I will deal with it then.

One other thing I realised as I sat down with the current list last week – a lot of things that I put in there were stupid. As in, unrealistic. For example: Pick a holiday destination using a globe spin. It sounds, I don’t know, romantic and dreamy as hell. But seriously though, what was I even thinking when I put that down? That is not me. As much as I want to believe that I am this free-spirited, wild-at-heart kind of person, the plain and simple truth is: I am not that person who picks a holiday destination using a globe spin.

Anyhoo, I (think I) know better now. To me, the point of this new list is to not necessarily put together a list of 101 things that I will definitely complete. It’s more about making it a true reflection of the person that I am today, knowing what I know about the myself, and adding in a healthy mix of the person I want to be. So you know, a mix of practicality with just the right amount of aspiration. :)

Enough preamble. Moving on now. Click here to read the full list. I am excited about this, and I have a good feeling about this one. Maybe my inner Rebel will come out in full force, and make me resist completing this round too, but well, I wouldn’t know if I don’t try, right?

Have you ever created a 101 in 1001 list? Or do you have any similar “life lists” going on at the moment? I’d love to know in the comments below and please feel free to leave links to your related blog posts if you’ve got any such lists going on. Also, wish me luck. :)
